WINNERS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2003

THE FIRST OF HIS GRACE

He waited in the garden
For her innocence to call
Determined he would be there
Enticing her to fall

He preyed upon her humanity
And inducted her into pride
Our Father who art in heaven
Oh, how You must have cried

It took but a moment
For mankind to fall from grace
He found them in the garden
Covering themselves in haste

His anger resounded throughout Eden
But still His love remained
Punishing because He had to
They bore sin's scarlet stain

Casting them out of Eden
How painful that must have been
Sealing up His wondrous creation
Never to be entered again

As they left the gardens boundaries
They felt the guilt and shame
Knowing they had bought their hardship
With the sin they could not tame

The sweet Lord still provided
Though an Eden it was not
Laboring with their bodies
Because they had chosen their lot

And unto them came children
She suffered them in pain
One boy she called Abel
The others name was Cain

One would honor the Father
His obedience could be seen
The other honored himself
And the finest he would glean

Abel fell dead one day
It was by his brother's hand
Oh Lord, it did grieve your heart
That You created man

God queried Cain of his brother
His answer was a lie
The ground gave up the blood
And the Lord heard it's cry

Cain then was cursed from the earth
A fugitive he would be
A mark was put upon him
For the entire world to see

Even though he had slain his brother
Compassion still God maintained
Sparing Cain's certain death
By the marking he bore, not in vain

This is the beginning of our history
And how clearly it does reveal
The Lord will always love us
And that, He will not repeal.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was
great in the earth, and that every imagination of
the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the LORD that he had made man
on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I
have created from the face of the earth; both man,
and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of
the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Genesis 6:5-7

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall
all be made alive

TRUST

I must look to the hills from which cometh my help
There is nothing I go through that Jesus has not felt

There is no need to cry, worry or fret
If I trust Him all my needs shall be met

The Lord has placed my feet upon a rock to stay
My enemies wait for me to stumble and fall everyday

But God will uphold and sustain me in His ways
If I allow Him to lead and guide me all my days.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

BUILDING ON HIS FOUNDATION

He died a lonely death
In utter disgrace
To lay down a foundation
For me to build upon by His grace

By surrendering my will, and doing His
And learning how to pray
I build upon His foundation
Practicing His presence each day

Persevering through the trials
The disappointments and the strife
Yes My son, that is what I said
By faith I build on His foundation
It is simply called, "My Life"

Time slowly creeps along
As I start to see
That building on His foundation
Is building character in me

Though I still don't totally understand
As the building continues on
His foundation never waivers
It's the one thing I can always count on.

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure,
having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His.
And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ
depart from iniquity.

2 Timothy 2:19
